Prague is great but there are definitely other places in the Czech Republic worth visiting. We always recommend Brno for its cafes and laid back atmosphere, the Moravian wine country, incl. Mikulov, its historic capital, for great wines and beautiful scenery, Kutná Hora for gothic architecture, modern art and, ok, the Bone Chapel, and the Brno in the Czech Republic might be an underrated city, but it’s definitely worth visiting if you are heading to Central Europe – there is so much to see and do. It’s a great destination (not only) for lovers of history, culture, architecture and art. Brno is more laid-back than Prague or Vienna and you can expect better value there too. I did a roadtrip around Belgium, Netherlands, Germany and Czech Republic recently. The sheer amount of beers available to try in Belgium alone is incredible. Have a look at 'trappist' beers, brewed by monks in limited batches. These kinds of beer have won many awards and are recognised as some of the best in the world. Absolutely incredible stuff. Brno Brews. Though you are in the capital of Moravia, an area famed for its wines, Brno holds a few delights in store for those who prefer an amber colored tipple. U Richarda is a modern pub on Údolní street at the foot of the castle hill. It brews a 12° lager, an 11° sour cherry beer, 11° wheat beer and 16° honey beer. Punkva Caves. Discovered in the early 20th century by Czech archeologist Karel Absolon, the Punkva Caves – located around an hour’s drive north of Brno – is one of the most awe-inspiring underground cave systems in the Moravian Karst. Visitors can tour the Punkva Caves via a foot walk that takes them past mighty stalagmites and For longer tour you can visit Lužánky park and villa Löw Beer and also villa Tugendhat. It's also possible to go to Obilni trh square - Kravi Hora park with observatory and then Jurkovicova villa. Other places worth visiting could be Anthropos or Brno dam. For souvenirs from the local artists: PlaceStore or Tourist Information Center. The City of Brno, the second largest city of the Czech Republic with more than 400.000 inhabitants, lies in the central part of Europe. Brno is a starting point for tourists who wish to explore the natural and cultural sights of the South Moravian Region. The Protected Landscape Area of the Moravian Karst is situated north of Brno and vineyards There are more places worth visiting but these are just the ones that came off the top of my head. The big music festival Colours of Ostrava will take place between the 18th and 21st July. The whole Dolní Vítkovice area will be very busy and full of people, so don't visit Ostrava then, if you want to actually enjoy its signature landmark. CJ70O.
